EDMR Therapy
Feeling Stuck? EMDR Can Help You Heal and Move Forward .
For Women Ready to Break Free from the Past and Reclaim Their Power
You’re smart, self-aware, and you’ve done the work—or at least, you’ve tried. But despite everything, there’s a part of you that still feels stuck. Maybe it shows up as anxiety that won’t go away, a deep sense of unworthiness, or a constant fear of being “too much” or “not enough.” Whether it’s from early childhood trauma, painful relationships, or the emotional upheaval that can come with menopause or perimenopause, you deserve to feel peace in your body, clarity in your mind, and freedom in your life.
Transforming Trauma With EMDR Therapy
When you experience a traumatic event (or events), your outlook on life can change forever. You may feel completely broken. You may feel constantly on guard and distrustful of the world around you. This can feel overwhelming. But that’s not all. Trauma can affect you in many other ways. If you are seeking change, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), is a fantastic therapy for past trauma. It is designed to help you process and release emotional wounds that are stuck in your nervous system.
These could be memories you don’t consciously think about, but that still trigger you—often in subtle, exhausting ways.
Through guided sessions, EMDR helps your brain reprocess these experiences, so they no longer feel like they’re happening now. Instead of constantly reliving pain, you gain the ability to remember it without being emotionally hijacked by it.
How Trauma May Affect You
You may experience both mental and physical symptoms because of the trauma you experienced. These may include:
● Recurrent nightmares and difficulty sleeping
● Anger and irritability
● Avoidance behaviors
● Feeling numb or disconnected
● Difficulty feeling positive emotions or having emotional distress
● Hypervigilance or feeling like you always have to be on alert
● Digestive issues
● Fatigue and exhaustion
You don’t have to keep living with these symptoms. You CAN heal.
Why EMDR Therapy?
If you are living with trauma, EMDR can help you.
It Has a Very High Success Rate
EMDR is recognized as an effective treatment for trauma by the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the Department of Defense, and the World Health Organization. That’s because it’s been proven to be highly effective.
One study found that 100 percent of trauma victims no longer met the diagnostic criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after only six sessions of EMDR therapy. They experienced complete remission.
It Takes Fewer Sessions
In clinical studies, participants reported experiencing quick relief from EMDR therapy. Some may begin to feel relief within just a few sessions. However, depending on the individual and the complexity of the trauma, the range can be from 12 to 20 sessions.
How Does EMDR Therapy Work?
What happens with traumatic memories is that we continue to experience them over and over again — unless we intervene.
EMDR therapy helps you “reprocess” traumatic memories using "bi-lateral stimulation" or BLS. BLS uses eye movements, sounds, or images that alternate between the body’s right and left sides. This stimulates both sides of the brain. It helps integrate positive thoughts, emotions, and sensations into the memory. When this happens, the traumatic memory no longer triggers you in the same way.
What Does the Process of EMDR Look Like?
It can be intimidating to do EMDR not knowing what it expects. Here are the phases of EMDR broken down.
1. Intake/History - During the first session, your therapist will ask about your psychosocial history, current symptoms, and issues.
2. Preparation - You will be introduced to the procedures used in EMDR.
3. Target memory assessment - During this phase, the target memory will be activated.
4. Memory processing/desensitization - You will focus on the memory while engaging in eye movements.
5. Installation - BLS is used to strengthen positive beliefs. This is called installation because positive thoughts are "installed."
6. Body scan - Your therapist will ask you to do a body scan and pay attention to how you feel.
7. Closure - This helps you return to a state of calm.
8. Evaluation - You’ll review your treatment progress with your therapist. It may sound intimidating, but our EMDR therapists are here to guide you through it.
FAQs
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that we get about EMDR therapy.
-
EMDR is best known for the treatment of PTSD and trauma, in particular. If you react emotionally or physically when thinking about events from your past, EMDR may help. Research has also found that it’s helpful for many other conditions, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship trauma, first responder trauma, and other distressing experiences. EMDR is all beneficial in helping to treat dissociation, panic orders, perimenopause, menopause, and prenatal/postpartum traumas.
EMDR may also be a good option for postpartum therapy. It can help with trauma related to traumatic birth experiences.
What EMDR does is allow the whole nervous system to heal and rewire your brain from negative to positive thoughts.
Can you do Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing virtually?
Yes! Studies have shown that virtual EMDR therapy is highly effective. It’s as effective as inperson sessions (and more convenient).

Traditional talk therapy can be incredibly helpful—but sometimes, talking isn’t enough. You may understand your trauma, but still feel triggered. That’s because trauma is stored in the body and nervous system, not just the mind.
EMDR works differently. Using bilateral stimulation (like guided eye movements or tapping), it helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories in a safe and controlled way. It’s like updating an old file on your hard drive—one that’s been slowing everything down.
The result? You feel more present. More grounded. More you

If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re ready for change. Not just surface-level coping, but real, lasting healing.
Maybe you’ve tried journaling, mindfulness, support groups—even therapy—and still feel like something’s missing. That’s where EMDR shines. It addresses the root, not just the symptoms.
You don’t have to carry the pain anymore. You don’t have to keep repeating the same patterns in relationships. You don’t have to live in survival mode. You deserve to live with ease, confidence, and emotional freedom.
